Tulle Skirt

This weekend my wonderful sister-in-law, Sarah, helped me make a beautiful tulle skirt! I’ve been wanting one for a while now, pretty much since I saw Carrie Bradshaw in her pink tulle skirt in the opening of Sex and the City. So my SIL, being the great seamstress that she is, offered to help me make one!

It was pretty ironic timing because just the evening before I was perusing Anthro and found this darling skirt and thought it would be so fun for our upcoming cruise! But it was still a little pricey and I realized that I could probably make it, or at least something similar.

So the next day Sarah and I headed to JoAnns to get fabric and make my tulle skirt! Let me just tell you, I am no seamstress, although I wish I was, and it was so easy to make! Basically, you cut a circle skirt out of your fabric (you will need a lining fabric and tulle, I used knit for my lining and it was perfect) and you sew them together at the waist onto an elastic band. I’ll post tutorials at the bottom.

It turned out so cute that I couldn’t wait for two more weeks to wear it on the cruise so I wore it to church. I felt a little puffy but I loved it! And I got so many compliments. I’m planning on making one in every color, a sparkly one, and a floor length one 🙂
